In A Year With Our Friends, Malik Wilson tracks the early beginnings of P.J.'s Cellar, especially as a response to the dimmer communal possibilities in our post-Covid world. But there is hope, he argues, because in planning for beauty, for possibility, we are  advancing a cause of faith and an act of expectation. Wine connotes a sacred narrative - a beginning, middle, and end. It allows us to 'try on ideas'  and determine how to spend our time. A Year With Our Friends is Takoma Wine's and P.J. Clarke's act of faith that a better way to live is possible.
