Malik Wilson's music series takes a consequential, intimate look at music needed and music desired - its consoling effects and affects. He shows how music's subjects, and cultural subdivisions actually eke out a unique poetics of development, possibility, beauty. He goes on to show how certain music which may appear farther from us - culturally, nationally, notionally - can reveal itself at great, grand, deep structural levels. He shows that in these cases, such music wields a totemic, presumptive, explicative power, revealing and concealing, opening new lines of understanding, about the world, about ourselves.

Bringing Classical Home Series
2026-2029
Previous generations grew up with classical music in the ether, a kind of shared grammar of loveliness in the background of one's home. Of course, its historical, original iterations occurred in small parlor rooms and petite music houses, often amidst people who themselves knew some basics of tone, form, composition, and harmony. In Bringing Classical Home, a joint venture with the Takoma Foundation, we want to return classical music to its earliest iterations - rooms of friends and lovers, loved ones and neighbors and new friends to come. In so doing, we are hoping to reestablish classical music as a universal emblem of achieved beauty, something fitting and lovely sculpted from the world.
